Cotton-Candy Colored Stories

This is a small tale
of a color that announced the beginning of summer
in the Kompeito Forest.

In the forest, as summer approached,
the sky grew higher,
and the sunlight sparkled.

Colorful flowers bloomed on the ground.
The bears
picked flowers
then enjoyed a picnic.

After eating their lunch sandwiches,
they lay down on the grassy field of the Dream Hill,
gazing idly at the sky.

"Hey, that cloud looks like a heart."
One bear said,
and another bear laughed and said,
"There's an ice cream cone over there too."

A pure white bird
flew silently through the clouds.

As they were finding various shapes in the clouds...
a small bear found a gently twinkling light
between the flowers.

There were two fragments of stars there.
A gentle light blue and
a soft orange.

The bears
gently held the fragments in their hands
and took them back to their small room in the forest.

The light blue was
a clear light like the early summer sky.
The orange was
somehow nostalgic,
a color that warmed the heart.

It wasn't summer itself,
but it was certainly
a color that contained the hint of summer.

One day, after several days had passed,
in the small room in the forest,
Kumamori and the bears
were trying to create a new color
by grinding the star fragments.

Eventually, the bears realized something.

"Ah, this color...
it's like the sky that day."

A high sky.
Fluffy clouds floating.
A scene where white birds pass by.

That was
the Cotton Cloud color
born in the Kompeito Forest.

The bears simply
felt that color
while being blown by the early summer breeze.
